I know, my version numbering is a little off. But I think this one has gone through enough changes to go up a digit.
Back after a long hiatus from this thread. That said, haven't stopped working on this pack since 2014.
(To think I started this 3 years ago...)
Much appreciated thanks to those who have supported throughout the release and development of Greylight.
Over a recorded 100K downloads and used in various servers and modpacks globally, it means a lot to me to see people enjoying a pack that I began for my own private use - Honestly, back in late 2013 I had ambitous plans of making an adventure map using FM, and started to make my own content pack to go with it. These days I don't have the passion for map making as much as others out there do.
But I still am passionate in making this Content Pack the best it can be. At times I won't have the motivation, or the time to work on it, but it will still stick in the back of my mind. There's still room for improvement though - and looking back, I think I can improve this a lot more by not adding more content, but updating or reworking the existing items.
Again, thanks to all those who have supported me up to this day, and to all those who gave me advice or have helped in the making of this pack.
So. New year, new stuff. I always had planned on retexturing models since the end of last year, but now I've put a lot more thought into this:
There are two milestones that I wanted to reach in this pack. The first was 100 unique weapons (well, somewhat unique). The second was 100K downloads. Both are now accomplished.
Without the need of trying to increase quantity anymore, I can focus more towards quality, which is what this update would be about.
And I've always wanted to do something special at the 100K DL marker. Originally the idea would've been to make some kind of new highly-prestigious faction, but it does mean adding more content; which means focusing on quantity again. Instead, it'll be something else. Something I'll talk about much later when the remodelling process is nearly complete (Hint: It's about textures).
I've basically started all over again with Greylight - redoing all the weapons from the start. Remodel, retexture, or both. Grenades and equipment will be expanded upon. Armour sets and uniforms will be reduxed as well. There will be new items being added, but only because I feel it makes the pack more complete with it. However, that also means removing items, and maybe redesigning features.
Model detail Consistency is still a slight problem with me, as I'm pretty sure my skills improve with each model I do. And as I work through the Skymare Faction, I find that the model consistency detail is slightly better than when I did the Lupine Military. But eh, whatever. It's good enough for me for now.
There's still a long way to go for me, but I'd like to think that I am at least...1/3 of the way there. I'm about halfway through the Skymare Faction as of this post, and have completed the weapons and attachments for the Lupine Military. I know some people have been asking me to port this to FM+ - and yes, I am going to make this happen eventually. Few project management things I gotta do as well, but that's all the background stuff I'll leave to a later time.
Well. So much I wish to talk about, but no. I'll leave it at that for now. Some things should be kept as secrets.
But, I'm sure you're here wanting actual screenshots. Here's a few below to satisfy you.
Until then,
Ta-Ta-For-Now.
